Epictetus

Epictetus was a Greek Stoic philosopher born around 50 CE in Hierapolis, Phrygia. He was born into slavery and later gained his freedom in Rome. His teachings were recorded by his student Arrian in works such as Discourses and Enchiridion. His philosophy emphasizes self-control, virtue, and living in accordance with reason.
