Euripides

Euripides was an ancient Greek playwright born around 480 BCE. He is one of the three great tragedians of classical Athens, alongside Aeschylus and Sophocles. His plays often focused on the inner lives and moral conflicts of his characters. Alcestis is among his earlier surviving works.
