Sophocles

Sophocles was an ancient Greek playwright born around 496 BCE. He is one of the three great tragedians of classical Athens, alongside Aeschylus and Euripides. His plays explore themes of fate, moral responsibility, and the conflict between individual conscience and state law. Antigone and Oedipus Rex are among his most renowned works.
