Thomas Hardy

Thomas Hardy was an English novelist and poet born in 1840 in Dorset, England. His works are set largely in the semi-fictional region of Wessex and explore themes of fate, social change, and rural life. Major novels include Tess of the d’Urbervilles, Jude the Obscure, and Far from the Madding Crowd. He died in 1928.
